Patrick Simmons
VP Academics & Registrar
Patrick is a seasoned educational professional with over 25 years of experience supporting adult learners in post-secondary settings. Currently pursuing a Doctorate in Education with a focus on Curriculum and Teaching, he advocates for the integration of instructional technology to create student-centred learning environments that maximise educational outcomes. Recognising the critical importance of equitable access to tools and resources, Patrick is dedicated to amplifying all learner voices and ensuring meaningful engagement. He leverages technology to enhance instructional effectiveness, personalise learning experiences, and foster self-efficacy among students. This approach increases student motivation, confidence, and overall academic performance.
Kris Mcnab
Accessibility Services Manager
Kris is an experienced educational facilitator with a focus on learner-support and employing a strengths-based approach to learning at the post-secondary level. He has over two decades of experience in supporting youth and adult learners in exploring solutions to their respective challenges. Kris has been directly involved in the Learner Services Department at Columbia College since 2018 by providing a safe space for learners to explore options with a variety of supports and learning strategies. While employing an empathetic voice, he is able to support learner needs in the areas of academic supports, personal support as required, accessibility assistance and a focus on problem-solving and self-advocacy.
Angela Parsons
Accessibility and Wellness Advisor
Angela is a registered Counselling Therapist (ACTA). She specializes in Individual Psychology with a solution-focused approach. As the Accessibility and Wellness Advisor, Angela is dedicated to fostering an inclusive environment for students and faculty at the College. With a decade of experience in mental health and counseling, she currently serves as a facilitator in the SSPD and EA programs at the College, where she inspires students to reach their full potential through exceptional teaching and support. Additionally, she connects individuals with valuable resources, workshops, and opportunities for personal growth. Committed to being an ally on every student’s and faculty member’s journey, she ensures that everyone has the tools they need to thrive both academically and personally.
Aly Jafferani
Curriculum and Instructional Designer
Aly Jafferani is an educational developer, storyteller, and youth development specialist. With over a decade of experience, he has successfully designed and implemented impactful educational programs for adolescents and adults across South Asia, Central Asia, and East Africa. Aly’s expertise spans both traditional classroom environments and innovative community-based education models, reflecting his deep commitment to fostering learning and growth in diverse settings.
